Appalachian Trail

"Let's hike the Appalachian Trail," he says. No, not the entire trail, only a day or two. "It will be fun," he says.

We parked about 45 minutes away from Muhlenberg. The plan was to drop something off for Ashley and go out to dinner (outdoor dining, of course).

About an hour into the hike I slipped on some wet leaves and managed to lodge my foot between two rocks. We soon learned this section is called "Knife's Edge." I wasn't brave enough to go any further.

We turned around and ate lunch with this as our view. Even fortified I was not willing to cross the street and hike an hour in the opposite direction.

On the plus, it was a beautiful day. It was nice to get outside. We did have a brief visit with Ashley. We had a lovely dinner at Thunderhead Lodge in Andreas, PA -- which had recently been written up in the Morning Call because of their fantastic comfort food, much appreciated after

Next time we'll go in the opposite direction.
