Voting During a Pandemic

Ashley confessed to me a couple of months ago that she always pictured voting in the firehouse, and was a little disappointed she wouldn't be able to do so this year. Understandable given the pandemic, but yet one more thing taken away by the Corona Virus.

In New Jersey our primary is typically the first Tuesday in June. This year it was pushed back a month to the first Tuesday in July.

All voters registered with either the Democratic and Republican party were mailed ballots with seemingly complicated instructions in both English and Spanish. It probably wasn't that complicated, but the three of us wanted to make sure our vote counted.

After filling out the form we drove into Princeton to put it in one of the official voting boxes. I'd read too many accounts of the form being returned for insufficient postage (no postage needed) or because the envelope did not meet certain standards. (specifically in our county) I decided it was worth the drop off in Princeton on Witherspoon Street.

Our 18-year old has cast her first vote. I'm very proud of her.
